My Old Grannie (Dirk Mainz)

My old grannie
Always worried
Might be burglars
Might be trouble
She was scared in the night
Afraid of the dark
But my old grannie
She loved me dearly
And I loved her
Cause she always cared for me

My old grannie
Saved every penny
Put food on the table
For the family
She said: "Darling, feed him well
Did he have enough to eat?"
My old grannie
Loved me dearly
And I loved her
Cause she always cared for me

My old grannie
She got lonely
Lost her husband
Way too early
She lived on for twenty years
Growing wrinkles on her face
She often told me:
"You are my sunshine!"
Yes, she loved me
And she always cared for me

My old grannie
Lost her memory
She grew weary
Of her body
She died in her sleep
Peaceful in the night
At her burial
There weren't many
And I miss her
And I hope she's doing fine
